1. The easiest thing to do is assume that you have 100 students. If 75% of them have had 8 math classes than that leaves 25 students who have had less than 8. Of those 25 remaining student 60% of them have had 6 or 7, so 60% of 25 is 15 students who have had 6 or 7 math classes. That is 75 students with 8 classes and 15 with 6 or 7. The remaining 10 have had fewer than 6, so 10% of the graduating class has had fewer than 6 classes.
2. First we must fine the percent of the test takers that were juniors, and the percent that were seniors. 35juniors/50 test takers = 70% of the test takers were junior and the remaining 30% were seniors. Then we multiply the average score for the class by the percentage of test takers that class made up. So 0.7X80=56 and 0.3X70=21. Then we add these together, 56+21=77.
