Best Gps For Geocaching Geocache
Best GPS to buy for Geocaching?
I’m looking for a good GPS to use for Geocaching. I was looking at the Magellan eXplorist GC, but that doesn’t have a built in compass, which is a big downside. Are there any GPS devices that are Geocache friendly, and are accurate? I used the app for the iPhone, which was perfect, it located nearby caches, had the coordinates, and had a compass that led me straight to them, but I can’t use an iPhone, I need a GPS. Help?
I was looking at the Oregon 550t…does anyone have any info on that?
The 60CSx is the old standby and it’s excellent for caching – I used one for several years and it still serves as a back-up GPS. The only drawback is that it’s lacking something which is quickly becoming the must-have feature, and that’s the capability for “paperless caching.” (Yes, I am aware of and have used, the clunky work around). All of the models from the better manufacturers are so close in accuracy that it’s not a big issue. Reception in dense cover is probably more important and even there the several models I’ve used are all roughly comparable. I really couldn’t point to one that’s head and shoulders above the rest (or is a piece of trash, for that matter.
