Bike Navigation Systems
Bike gps for android?
I like to ride my bike alot but I tend to get lost. I was wondering if there was an app for android that would be like a navigation system except it would include bike paths. Preferably free. Thanks!!!
I believe all GPS apps use satellites for location and navigation, just as do GPS devices. I’m not aware of such an app/service being available at no cost for mobile phones.
You should have the free google maps app already installed on your phone. If not, go here: http://www.google.com/mobile/maps/
It uses cell towers to locate your current location on the map. From there, figure out way if you’re lost. It doesn’t have navigation, but it’s more than sufficient to help you. BUT, it won’t work in areas where you don’t have a signal. This is one of many reasons why a GPS device is superior for exploring.
Regardless, I’d suggest taking time to get familiar with maps of the places your ride. If you lack a sense of direction, get a small compass.
