Just bought a GPS Garmin Streetpilot C340?

I LIVE IN ROCHESTER NY AND MY GPS IS SHOWING IN THE SCREEN A MAP FROM KANSAS CITY AND SEARCHING FOR SATELLITES,THIS IS MY 1 GPS,WHAT I HAVE TO DO SO IT WILL SHOW ROCHESTER NEW YORK

The Garmin is probably showing the position of its last known location or a default location programmed into the firmware. For all the Garmins sold into North America, that’s usually Olathe, KS as that’s their HQ.

The C340 doesn’t have a great receiver. If you’re playing with it in the house, you probably don’t have a satellite fix, easily confirmed by the bars in the upper left of the screen being either hollow or filled with red and the green bar at the top of the map screen showing “Acquiring Satellites”.

Take the unit outside where it has a good view of the sky. Within twenty minutes, it’ll figure out where it is. From that point forward (unless it’s been powered off > 2 weeks or moved > 500 miles since it was last powered on) it’ll get a lock faster once it can see the sky.
