Cheap Gps Systems
Is this a good aviation GPS for me?
It is a Pharos GPS 396-425. Here is the link to it on ebay.

I am a new private pilot and I want to get a simple and cheap GPS system that basically will show me airports and airspace.
I was wondering if anybody knows anything about this brand/model. Would this work out good for me and not break?
Also if you would like to recommend a cheap GPS for me, that would be great.

I agree with Skyhawk for the price its hard to beat. If you already have a PDA or a laptop or pentop computer you can download the software being used on that little unit from APIC (approach systems) for lots less money.

Using a pentop or small laptop computer is not a bad method of getting a good GPS for flight even TrueFlight maps are very good http://www.aviationsafety.com/products1/products.htm
You can find WAAS enabled GPS units for under $50.00 to power a computer driven system in case the computer doesn’t have one. I use a Samsung Q1 with a Holux M1200 bluetooth GPS and it is as accurate as the 430/530 in the panel! Makes a great backup and even will overlay the approach chart (actual approach chart).
