Garmin Gps Downloads Waypoints

garmin etrex vista geocache coordinates?

Ok so i have a garmin etrex vista gps system donated to me by my brother. I have joined geocaching.com and downloaded the caches for the last few months, but they dont save into the geocache area of the gps, they save into to waypoints, which isn’t a problem really. But if you know how i do this properly please let me know.
The problem i have is that on some of the puzzle caches (the ones where they have coordinates to the next one in them) i need to be able to manually input the coordinates. I have tried doing this but it only lets me put in 5 numbers out of the 6 that i need. What am i doing wrong and how do i input the coordinates. Everytime i try to save a waypoint it saves the coordinates as where i actually am and not where i need to go to. Its frustrating and nothing in the manual really helps me!

As Fun Skater mentioned, make sure your GPS is set to display coordinates in the proper format, i.e. Degrees/Decimal Minutes. To manually enter a waypoint, normally you will mark your position and then, before saving the waypoint, edit the coordinates to the correct values. Once you have the edited the coordinates, save the waypoint. It should not change back to your current location.
