Garmin Gps Questions And Answers
Questions about how a Garmin GPS works?
I am thinking about getting a Garmin for Christmas this year, but I need some questions answered first. How does it hook into your car? Do you have to subscribe to anything? And how do you charge it?
I like Garmin better than other brands, but to each their own. I mainly like the user interface on the Garmin better, and their more detailed road directions.
One thing that you can subscribe to is traffic updates which can alert you of traffic problems. You need to have a GPS which is capable of receiving updates. This costs extra but is optional (some higher end units give you a free trial subscription, but you have to pay after that).
Another thing that costs money is map updates. This is also optional, and you can choose to update only if you feel that the roads in your area have changed enough that you want new maps (or if you want to travel someplace that is not covered in your original map set, for example Europe).
