Garmin Gps Romania
Where can I get a detailed map of Romania for my Garmin GPS 205W?
So far I have only been able to find a limited coverage map of Romania. Please help.
At present, it seems you cannot.
I used to work in the Sat-Nav industry (it was a couple of years ago) and know how these maps are produced. It is in fact a costly and time consuming process to get the data onto your sat nav, regardless of the manufacturer.
One of the main reasons for this is that the mapping company (typically Navteq in Garmin’s case) has to send its vans onto Romanian roads and catalogue every feature; this is what holds everything up. Wrangling over the licence to produce the map data – which sometimes requires government agreement – has also been known to occur from one country to another.
According to Garmin’s website, the only map facilities available for now are limited to detailed coverage of Bucuresti (Bucharest), Timisoara and Voluntari. At least that is what it says for the European card at least:-

I would suggest the best way forward would be to contact Garmin to see if they have any inkling of future updates.
