Garmin Gpsmap
Anyone have a newer GPS/SONAR combo?
I would like to know if anyone has problems with the internal antenna models. Im looking at the garmin Garmin GPSMAP 525s , Eagle 642C DF iGPS, and the lowrance hds5. Is the dual frequency for salt and freash water? Thank’s
My new boat has a Lowrance HDS 7 @ the bow & a HDS 8 @ the Helm.
I have not had any problems picking up a signal, BUT will be getting a exterior 3000 puck soon, because they are faster(refresh rate ) than an internal antenna.
But so far have not had any problems with them and my HDS 8 Even locked on my location while in the dealers shop.

The Dual frequency on my Lowrance HDS, if mostly for the depth of water you are fishing and the 8 you can change which frequency you are using (3 are in the menu)
I fish inland fresh water lakes, rivers only.
Only problem I have with my HDS’s at this time is they will not read Navionics chips/charts. Update was supposed to available last week, but now they are saying not until the middle of May. ( I have $400 worth of chips I can not use until then)
Side scan is supposed to be available for the HDS units some time in the fall, and last I heard they will be using a SHOOT THREW HULL transducer as well as a skimmer.
