Here’s something that we’ve tried at our school for our PTO. Hold a family “dance” and/or karaoke. Charge $5 or $10 per family or couple. Find a DJ who is cheap and have the parents pitch in for refreshments. We had a dance and raised $2,000. I know your from a small town so you probably wont expect to make that much, but at least you could try and reach your $550 mark. Not to mention you and your friend could have a great time. Also, google fund raising.
