Go 740
When I start the engine on my old Volvo 740 , I have a squealing sound from under the bonnet?
It goes quite quickly and it can be “accelerated” away ……..I know I have had a similar problem in the past……and a mechanic fixed it with a drop of oil…….
Where is he likely to have put that drop of oil to stop that squeak / screech / squeal ?
Reckon other answers about belt tension sound right but you may find the battery is not in good condition and the big load on start up is taking a lot more out than normal, meaning the alternator is working hard to charge. 14.5 volts if you can check is normal after starts. Also a LITTLE !! WD40. sprayed onto the inside of the belt can stop noise.
