Can I take a GPS system on a plane?

I am going out of town and would like to use my GPS system when I arrive. Is this allowed thru security? Can I carry it in my bag?

Yes, you can take it on the airplane.

You can use it as well during the flight, on most airlines (a few backward airlines still refuse to let you use them). Hold the antenna near the window for the best reception. Usually handheld GPS units work quite well in the air. (This assumes you plan to use it during the flight, as opposed to just transporting it to your destination.)
