Gps Camera Nikon
Celestron Nexstar 5/8 Question?
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I own a Celestron Nexstar 8 series telescope; i have had it for many years and am hoping to upgrade a couple of things to begin doing more with it. First is there a way to add GPS to the existing computerized star finder system? Next, I additionally own a Nikon D80 and would like to do some BASIC astrophotography (the moon, planets, maybe a little more?) is there a camera mount, or what is necessary for me to achieve results that i am looking for. I love the telescope, but grow tired of having to align it, so i was hoping for the GPS to do that for me, and for the improved “accuracy” to begin allowing me to concentrate on taking pictures… could someone provide information about these things for my telescope and camera?

If yours is one of the original NexStar 8′s, I don’t think that it can be upgraded. All GPS does is automatically enter the date and time; it doesn’t align the scope. You will still need to do a two-star alignment every time.
