Lowrance GPS how to put extra digits on waypoints into the GPS unit?
Question
GPS unit wont allow a final number to be entered from the waypoint i have?
I have a Lowrance Elite 5 DSI i have tried to find some marks from a list of way points but lowrance wont allow the final number on the longitude and latitude have read the manual but cant seem to find how i can change this does any one have this model or any help. The example i will give is this
Lat 11 58.7984
Long 136 52.6396 is what i have on my waypoint list that i want to get to but the Lowrance will only allow me to enter this
Lat 11 58.798
Long 136 52.6936
any ideas? That is with the world maps if i put the Navionics card will it allow the extra digit or does some one know a setting i can change in the unit help please fishing trip may be put off

You can’t add any more digits. The programming won’t allow it. The fourth digit isn’t needed and does not allow for that fine accuracy in the GPS. Even the most accurate general public GPS isn’t programmed for that amount of accuracy. The reason, terrorists could then use the electronics to guide missiles to a very accurate point. That kind of accuracy is Restricted to Military and Aeronautic use only. The display will show a fourth number in some cases, but will not allow it to be held in a program. Read the section on “Restrictions for Civilian Use” below. There has to be a certain amount of inaccuracy to be considered not munitions grade guidance control.
