Gps Education Courses
From this information, what do you think of my future?
I’m entering Year 11 this year. Every year since Year 7 my grades have dropped from straight A’s, to last year (year 10) I got no A’s and my first E. Before this, I had everything planned out. I was going to be an engineer and make lots of money… But due to lack of concentration at school and some stupid mistakes, that’s all gone away. I’ve spoken to the careers counselor and we’ve sorted out a vocational education course I will be taking on this year in Spacial Information Systems (to do with collecting data from satellites for GPS). I love maps and weather, and GPS machines, so at least I’ve found something I really like doing. Apart from that, I am still worried about how I’m going to go this year at school, and ESPECIALLY next year, Year 12. What do you think? And do you have any tips?
Also, I have a part time job already, so I am making some money for the future.
From the info you’ve provided, you say you had always planned to be an engineer. So, why let some poor grades in the past and some mistakes you’ve made stop you from reaching your goal? Everyone makes mistakes, but remember you learn from mistakes. You clearly want to get back on track, and this is obvious because you have spoken to the careers counsellor and want to do something about it. And with your mind focused on getting back those A grades, you should be able to do it. Motivation is the key. So make sure that you have lots of people around you who will be there for you during year 11 and 12. If you can conquer those years, you can conquer anything.
Be happy and confident in what you do and don’t try to overdo it or push yourself too hard, because that is when you start to slip back. Try to be optimistic about the challenges ahead and confident in that you will be able to achieve them. If you achieved straight A’s in your daunting first year of high school in year 7, only having half the knowledge and maturity you do now, you should be able to achieve A’s this year and the next, because you have achieved A’s before and know you are capable of achieving them again. Set yourself realistic and achievable goals that you know you will be able to achieve. And only do what you think you can handle, in both education and in your work. Because, if you really want to become an engineer, that will mean putting your education first for the next two years at least. Hope this helps a bit.
