What could be some positive and negative effects of a GPS?

What are the positive and negative impacts on our society both now and in the future with the extensive use of GPS technology?

Positive effects: Fewer plane crashes as GPS makes it easier for ATCs to tell where they are.
Several lives have been saved by GPS used in search and rescue operations.
GPS gave us geocaching (I view that as a pro, some others would say it’s a con).
Navigating unfamiliar roads is much easier with GPS than with a traditional map.

Negative effects: Privacy concerns (there’s a rumor that there’s a way to pinpoint your location via a GPS enabled phone)
Dependence (People are forgetting how to use a normal map as more and more get used to GPS).
