Unlocked Cellphones Help?
So, I’m planning to buy an international version of the HTC Touch Pro.
I just have some questions because I’m confused:
a) Can you use your old sim card?
b) Can you use it to other US Networks? Because I am in th US.(Frequency, etc.)
c) If it is an unlocked cellphone, can you still be able to use its capabilities such as WiFi, GPS, and the other features the Touch Pro have w/o being charged? Or you need to have a plan in a US network?
d) Last, where is a good place to buy an unlocked cellphone of the Touch Pro that is cheap and can be used in the US?

Answers to your questions.
a) As long as it is still an active SIM and you are staying with that carrier.
b) If it is an unlocked GSM and not a CDMA with an international SIM slot, you can use it on any US or international GSM network. If it is a CDMA phone domestically(for Verizon, Alltel, or Sprint for example) it will only work internationally.
c) WiFi won’t be charged regardless because it uses your internet connection at home, unless you are using a hotspot(these may have charges). GPS depends on if it is device based or service based. Internet(service based) and e-mail you will need a service for.
d) eBay is the absolute best here. You can buy new phones at a fraction of the cost. I bought my $500 Blackberry 8830 World Edition(Sprint) for $200 New In Box on eBay. For a new smartphone expect to pay at least $200(relatively inexpensive) but sometimes you can get a better deal.
