there is a kids phone ‘Kajeet’ and i was looking at the plans and has a GPS tracker that you can see where your kids are at all times, i was wondering if there was any way that text messaging could be read by parents through the computer
Hi this is Carol from kajeet. We don’t make the copy of the actual texts available to parents (though you are not the first to request this). The service does have a parent dashboard that lets parents and kids set up the parental controls – including allowing them to block certain texts/calls/numbers (e.g., from someone who is bullying), block out certain times (e.g., at night so no one interrupts precious sleep), and to turn certain features on/off. This dashboard also lets you monitor the detailed call, text, and picture message records – and it is a great thing to review with your kid once a month or so as a conversation starter on how they are using text and picture messaging and what is appropriate phone use.
Many parents do ask their children to share with them the text and pictures they are sending from time to time. Kids make mistakes as they learn how to use social media – and the phone is a type of social media. Something that send messages and pictures instantly requires a bit of practice so you only send things you would like to have forwarded. Many parents simply review the phone with their kids from time to time to make sure it is being used appropriately.
