Gps Lifetime Maps And Traffic

Is it necessary to get the lifetime traffic and map updates when you purchase a GPS?

You can probably live without lifetime traffic, not sure that is just a personal choice. So you decide on that one, but there are weird stories that always remind us that we need new updated maps on our GPS. If you will rely on your GPS then it is important to be able to use it properly. You cannot really rely on your GPS if the maps are not updated.

So, if you get a GPS then make sure it has the latest maps. New roads are being built all the time and older roads may have a chance of being closed. You must also consider the closing of businesses and Points of Interest / POI constantly changing. It would be nice to know that a restaurant has been out of business for two months without driving 30 minutes on the road and arrive to only see it closed. I recently received a new update for my newelectronx GPS (which has lifetime map updates) with brand new 3D North American maps.
