Gps North America Map Download
When will Garmin release their new GPS Maps? Should I wait to use my free 1 time update?
I bought a Garmin 255WT yesterday. The USB cord I ordered came in today so I am able to connect my GPS to my computer to use my free map update. The map on my GPS right now is “City Navigator North America NT 2010.10 Limited, Deluxe All Regions, Apr 09.” The 2011 one is available for download now.
Do you think Garmin will release the 2012 one soon? My free map update expires in August and I was wondering if I should just wait. Thank you for your time!
Given that 2011 is still almost 7 months away, I would guess it is going to be quite sometime till Garmin releases the 2012 version of City Nav N. America. If I were in your shoes, I would just sit on that free upgrade. Just don’t forget you have it. Unless you live in an area of rapid growth upgrading now is a bit of a waste. I have just upgraded to the 2011 version from 2008 and besides the immediate area near my home(high growth) I have seen no real differences. You might want to just use it as is for a few weeks, if you find your GPS has you driving thru a white screen, then think about upgrading.
