Gps Omnitech
Is it possible to be able to type in coordinates into the Omnitech Gps system made for cars?
This is for geocaching… and it is pretty hard to navigate only using google maps. Any help is appreciated.
I browsed the user manual for one Omnitech model and could not find a reference to entering coordinates but that is not surprising for a low-end automotive GPS. I would suggest using a handheld GPS as almost all of them will accept direct coordinate input. There are several that can be purchased for less than $100, such as the “Geomate Jr” which lists for $69.95, is available for slightly less, and is designed specifically as an entry level caching GPS. I’m not a big fan of the Geomate for various reasons, but it might suit your needs. One other alternative, if you have a smart phone, is to locate a geocaching app. There are numerous apps available for different operating systems and some of them are free.
One final thought: I did notice some reference to folks hacking the Omnitech. Perhaps you could look into the possibility that a hack exists that allows direct coordinate entry
