What components make up a GPS Receiver?
Just trying to find out info on what would be needed to make up a GPS receiver for say a backpack. I understand a GPS Chip and GSM Module for cell coverage. Tried looking for an idea of parts, not trying to buy one and crack it open. It doesn’t need an LCD screen , just doing a paper when we have to create a product. Any help would be appreciated.
I like that link Aaron and I might try to do that to at least win over and A for effort. We are trying to make a tracker product for kids. I mean in a hypothetical sense. An integrated Backpack GPS, so no need for a screen. Tracking from a smartphone to the backpack. I was just looking to find out whats the minimum amount of components to put together a tracking GPS.
You need some sort of input/output, whether it’s an LCD, voice, or an interface to an existing device such as a laptop or cell phone. And some sort of storage for maps (CD, DVD, hard disk or flash). Or maybe you just want to use the GPS as an emergency transmitter, so that if the user gets lost, others can find him/her.
