Gps Rs232 Receiver
is it possible to have a wireless GPS antenna? Surveying equipment?

Here is our dilemma. We have carlson 600+ GPS surveying equipment but we have to have a backpack that houses the GPS receiver and RF receiver. We can send the RS232 over wireless easily but is there any way to send the signal from the GPS antenna (SMA connector type) WIRELESSLY to the backpack? The problem is when we are in the field, if another person wants to use the GPS, you have to unstrap the backpack and give it to the other person. We are trying to simply send the RS232 signal and GPS antenna signal wirelessly to the backpack. Thanks!
The GPS RF, no.
You can have the receiver/antenna/battery put together as a system, and have it wirelessly transmit the NMEA string (which is basically RS232).
If you want the GPS receiver to read where the back pack is, just put the GPS antenna on the back pack.
