GPS/GSM??????! Whatta..?
Does GSM not work as GPS? How it is possible to track an individual not using GPS, when he calls to 112/911 with an “old-fashioned” GSM and is not able to to say a word, still when the call hangs up immediately? How can the rescue team find him anyway? There used to be an service called GPS tracker. Where is it now and why? Money?

Well.. technically GSM is a FREQUENCY people use for calling and messaging.
and GPS is a DEVICE which connected to satellite to track down an object.. that’s why it’s called GPS (Global positioning sattelite)
When u asked,
1. HOw they track people who’s not using GPS?
ans: GSM phones send signals and receive signals to transmitter (a Base Signal Transmitter or BST) from his phone (GSM) provider.. Let me get this easier, if u use AT&T provider, ur phone simultenaously send and receive signal from AT&T tower base or BST, so what the officer should do is just connect to AT&T and asked for where’s the place the signals are last received.. voila!! so they found u..
2. THere used to be GPS tracker, where r they?
ans:GPS tracker is still there nowadays, but less populer and more expensive, and people don’t have enough reason to buy a GPS device, only for its usage, ask ur fren, from 10 people, how much of them felt they need a GPS device?
Yet.. actually GPS device is embedded to another device nowadays, like handphone (nokia n95), PDAs, cars, etc..
u can use for tracking maps and special objects also.. but if u just curious what it looks like, try google earth, or yahoo maps, that would be it. but GPS will be more precise of course.. ha5..
