Can you buy a GPS chip?
Okay so I lose my phone A LOT!!! I got a GREAT phone and I DON’T want to lose it! Is it possible to buy a GPS tracking device for my phone or something? Like maybe put a chip inside and have a remote? Idk I just don’t want to lose it.
A GPS chip isn’t something you can buy off the shelf, and even if you did, it would be useless without corresponding software or hardware to make the tracking mechanism work.
An easier way is to rely on your own cell phone’s capabilities. Most new cell phone models (right from the higher end iPhone, Blackberry and Droid phones to the regular LG and Samsung phones) have some kind of in-built GPS capability.
Think of the Google Latitude app that lets you know your friends’ location based on their mobile phone location. Compatible apps for your own kind of cell phone can prevent it from getting lost or stolen.
