How do you create a nautical chart for a lowrance GPS?
How do i create a nautical chart? I need a kind of simple map editor where i can mark islands the shoreline and maybe some shallow spots. What program should i use? I don’t need depths so just a program where i can make kind of a goggle- maps/earth map. I have looked at “Global mapping software” is that something i should use? I have a Lowrace GPS please share everything you know about this like videos, tutorials and stuff. Just some easy to use programs to do this if it’s possible.

ChartPlotter, and other free GNU/FSF programs work with those formats.Most are Raster Images.
Look at NOAA Charts Online, they are free to download.
I dual boot BSD and Linux , I also use the many Free , well they were paid for by any taxpayer, you and I, our mothers and fathers.
Nautical Charts are supposed to cost hundreds of dollars, or so we are taught. they are free from any USCG, DOI, USGS, or any Geological or Mining consortium that is now a part of the Federal Government. Every time you buy a stamp, a beer . tobacco, gas or pay any Federal taxes, you have paid the salaries and the materials to make those charts, they are also available at US.gov/LOC, or Library of Congress.
Google has some good ones, any USCG or Merchant Marine or International Skipper will tell you, wisely, there is nothing better or safer than an up to date Chart.
Careful when approaching any port or harbor that a Hurricane or Tropical Storm has just passed or crossed over, are usually a nightmare of unreported and uncharted wrecks in those waters.
So boat safe, and keep a sharp eye out.
