Gps With Traffic Info
IPhone3G question….?
I recently saw a demo of maps in iPhone3G using GPS. It was showing the user’s current location as a blue blip, was showing pizza eateries around the user’s location and was showing the traffic condition on nearby roads.
Now here is what i want to know: The user location is via GPS so it does not require 3G. How about the location of amenities around the user as well as the traffic condition?These are dynamic data that keep changing (esp the traffic). How does the iphone get this data? My hunch is that it connects to the internet via 3G and gets this dynamic info and overlays it on the map with your position found via GPS.
Is this correct? If yes then whats going to happen if i am in a place without 3G? Thanks for your time.
well you dont have to have 3G you can have edge, GPRS, and other mobile internet types. 3G is the fastest but uses the most battery. anyways… you probably wont be able to see the traffic without mobile internet, and you wont be able to see the map either, because it downloads the maps from the internet, unless it was running before and just had that little part loaded.
