Police – Can you explain why an EZ pass is not obstruction but if radar detector were in the same place?
it would be obstruction?
I’m in NJ, I’ve read the stat law that has no mention of excluding EX pass making it legal. Places the ez pass on the top middle of the windshield under most state law is illegal, none of them have exclusions make ez pass legal.
Tell me why if I were to put a gps or radar detector in the same place as the ez pass would be mounted, tell me why one would be obstruction and the ez pass would be legal under the assumption the state law has no mention of either?
The only answer I can fathom – one makes money for the state and the other two don’t benefit the state.

It’s the location. EZ Pass is mounted behind the mirror and obstructs nothing. A radar detector is typically mounted elsewhere, so that you can see the lights.
If you have the radar detector totally behind the mirror, then you might have an argument. But once it’s dipping below, you lose.
