Tomtom Gps Extension
Help! How do I get my TomTom gps mount unstuck from windshield?
It comes with a round plastic mount that you stick to your windshield. How can I get the mount itself off of the windshield? The tomtom itself comes with a small extension that has a suction cup on the end of it. Little did I know the suction cup will not stay on the mount itself. I have researched this and found that this is a major problem. I can’t find an answer to how to get the mount itself off of the windshield, though. There was paper on the back that I peeled off of the round plastic mount before I pressed the sticky back to the windshield. It’s very secure, but I no longer want or need it there. How can I get it off?
Thanks to ChevyPride for restating the problem while offering no help. OK so you were not supposed to stick that to the windshield. Now some ideas… I would try soaking the area in a penetrating oil (PB Blaster is the best i have found) This will hopefully begin to break down some of the adhesive around the edge of the plastic cup, you will have to let it soak and possibly try a couple of applications. Another possible product to try would be ‘Goo Gone’. Once again try to soak the area around the cup with the liquid. If either of these products work you can try to insert a pry tool (screwdriver/knife) in between the cup and the windshield. If you get any room between the surfaces you can spray more of the penetrating oil in. Trying the penetrating oil and a scraper of some kind are about your only options. PB and Goo Gone are both available at Autozone (i’d try PB first) Good Luck! While you are at Autozone ask an employee to check out the problem for you. They might have a good solution, an may even help you with it. Heating up the area may also make to the adhesive more pliable… Hope this helps.
